I’m coming off a nasty 2 week cold, and haven’t really updated this blog like I normally would, but I’m getting close to feeling normal now and it’s time to get back into the swing of it all.
Since the last blog entry, the UMD women finished sweeping Bemidji State, and went on the road for 2 series, sweeping Minnesota-State Mankato, and then Ohio State last weekend, and are seated firmly in 3rd place, 4 points ahead of North Dakota and 3 points behind 2nd place Minnesota.
UMD starts the weekend 3 points behind Minnesota, but has a slight chance to overtake Minnesota in points should North Dakota beat them once this weekend, and UMD sweeps St. Cloud at Amsoil Arena. The ‘Dogs would have the tie-breaker with a 2-1-1 record vs. the Gophers this season.
Until St. Cloud beat Mankato on February 11, their ONLY WCHA points all season came from tying UMD and winning the shootout at National Hockey Center. The Huskies have only scored 27 goals in 31 games this season, and 23 in 26 conference games, and have been outscored 44-3 in the first period of WCHA games.
Jocelyne Larocque, Tara Gray, Laura Fridfinnson, Kim Martin, and Elin Holmlov all suit up for their final regular season home series in Duluth this weekend.
