Freshman forward Haley Irwin earned her second Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week honor Tuesday just 21 days after she picked up her first.
The native of Thunder Bay, Ontario recorded her first collegiate hat trick last Saturday (Nov.24) against Minnesota State when she tallied three goals and added an assist in the No. 3 University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team 10-4 victory over the Mavericks.
Irwin also had an assist the night before in the WCHA-leading Bulldogs 3-1 win over MSU, scoring five points in the two contests. 12 games into her first season in a Maroon and Gold jersey, Irwin has notched 16 points (7-9=16), which ranks her fourth in the nation among rookie scorers with a 1.33 points per game average.
UMD heads to Madison, Wisc. Friday to set up their national game rematch with No. 4 Wisconsin. The puck drops both Friday and Saturday afternoon at 2:07 p.m.
