UMD Routes Mankato 10-4

UMD routed Mankato 10-4, though it wasn't even that close really.

The fun part was after UMD made the score 6-1, both coaches changed goaltenders and it became Johanna Ellison and Paige Thunder on the ice together. I mentioned wanting to see this before the season, and unfortunately in the blowout game, it happened. There was a brief referee consultation on a UMD goal and a Mankato penalty that allowed them to warmup and be announced at the same time also. They look so alike on the ice, having been coached by Johanna's dad for years.

Amy Meyer played the third period for UMD. Haley Irwin had a Hat Trick for UMD, Jaime Rasmussen scored her first two goals of the season, and Saara Tuominen had a goal and three assists. Myriam Trepanier scored a goal and assisted on two others, and two assists each were given to Iya Gavrilova and Heidi Pelttari. The third period was really sloppy, with both teams taking a lot of dumb penalties and each team ended up with 3 powerplay goals for the game.
